White Horse Cricket Club: 2017 Season Review

It was a successful 2017 for Broad Hinton's cricket club, White Horse CC. The team finished a commendable 4th in Wiltshire League Division 3. Having been promoted to the division last Autumn, we consolidated comfortably and were close to promotion until later in the Summer when player holidays and injuries took their toll.

We maintained our place in Division 2 of the Monahans Swindon Mid-Week League, and also had a successful summer of Sunday friendlies.

2018 Season- Come and Join us!

With the pain of the Ashes past us, we are progressing quickly into Spring and the start of a new season. We are looking to compete on three fronts again through our involvement in Wiltshire League Division 3, Sunday 40 over friendlies and Monahans Midweek Division 2. Come and Join us!!! We are looking to build our ever-aging squad, so if you are interested in taking part in the beautiful game then get in touch. We are running winter nets in the run up to the season and will also be running nets sessions through the season. We encourage players of all abilities as we compete at various levels. If you would like more information then please contact Nathan Sheffield on 07795598401 or use our Contact Us page.

We supported the ECB Allstars programme to introduce cricket to 5-8year olds in 2017. We signed up 27 children for the 8 week course, one of the highest numbers in the County. Blessed with good weather most weeks, the children and the parents enjoyed running around on Friday afternoons, learning the basic skills of the game, and tucking into the BBQ and bar. Children mostly came from Broad Hinton C of E Primary School, but we also welcomed children from surrounding villages. We hope this will create the next generation of players to keep the club going. Thanks must also go to our Social Members who continued to support us in great numbers this year. It was great to see so many of you supporting us up at the ground at Manor Farm.

We will again be supporting the ECB Allstars programme in 2018. So look out for further information and get your child signed up to get a taster of the game of cricket, who knows you may have the next Ian Botham or Joe Root in your family!

We are a club for life! Not just for our playing members but also our social members. After every home game you can smell the burgers on the BBQ and people gather from the village and beyond to join us for a beer and a burger whilst taking in some of the cricket. We run regular social event and fundraisers that appeal to the wider community such as quiz nights, 6 a-side competitions and our famous bi-annual Summer Ball, that is making a return this summer!

The date for the bi-annual White Horse Cricket Club Summer Ball is Saturday 23rd June 2018. More details to follow.
